Hamilton-area real estate agent accused of voyeurism through secret recording devices
Local real estate agent Jason Machado has been charged by Hamilton Police with voyeurism following allegations involving the use of hidden recording devices dating back to 2007.
Hamilton Police said in a news release last week that 40-year-old Machado has been charged with three counts of voyeurism.
Police were contacted after a witness discovered video recordings allegedly involving the accused.

Real estate registration terminated
Machado’s online profiles identify him as having most recently worked with Cambridge-based Shaw Realty Group. According to the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO)’s online registrant search, his registration was “voluntarily terminated” on May 5.
“Jason Machado is no longer associated with our brokerage. Shaw Realty Group severed all relations with him immediately upon learning of the charges. We are truly shocked by this news and did not see it coming,” said Shaw Realty Group owner Shaw Hasyj in a statement to Real Estate Magazine.
“In response to these events, we have provided a therapist to support our current and past agents who may have been affected.”
Investigation spans nearly two decades
Police have seized multiple electronic devices, which are currently undergoing forensic examination as the investigation continues.
Investigators say a preliminary review of the materials uncovered multiple recordings depicting individuals in private settings without their knowledge or consent. Police allege the videos were captured using hidden recording devices placed in locations where individuals had a reasonable expectation of privacy.
The recordings are believed to span several years, from 2007 to 2025.
Police seeking additional victims
At this time, investigators have not identified all individuals depicted in the videos.
Police say they are concerned there may be additional victims and have released photographs of Machado in an effort to identify anyone who may have been affected.
Anyone who believes they may have information related to this investigation are asked to contact Detective Constable Zach Walters of the Division 30 Criminal Investigations Division at 905-546-8968 or by email at CID30@hamiltonpolice.ca.
Police are asking those who may wish to provide information anonymously to consider reaching out to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or Crime Stoppers Hamilton’s website.
