Tariff uncertainty seen as an opportunity for B.C.’s languishing modular industry

A tariff war may be the spark British Columbia needs to boost one of its homegrown industries.

That’s the position taken by modular-housing builders throughout the province whose factories are operating far below capacity. They say that, with the help of government, they can get their production lines moving, deliver housing that is about 10 to 20 per cent cheaper than on-site construction and do it quickly, while creating thousands of jobs.
