What can a homebuyer get for $650,000 in and around Halifax?

by Shane Dingman

Real estate markets across most of Canada have cooled, but Nova Scotia has so far been one of the few regions that has seen house prices continue to rise.

At the end of 2025, the Nova Scotia Association of Realtors reported year-over-year growth in prices in all regions of the province, though sales volume began to dip in the fall. Home prices remain close to their all-time highs in the most populous Halifax-Dartmouth metro area.

If you were looking for a two-storey family home in the provincial capital region, the median price (as calculated by the Canadian Real Estate Association) was hovering below $650,000 as 2025 drew to a close. Here’s what you’d actually get for something close to that budget in the area.
